MARTINEZ,CA : One dead in crash on Highway 4 in Martinez on August, Sunday 13th 2017

A 41-year-old Richmond man died early Sunday after veering off Highway 4 and crashing, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities did not immediately identify the man, who was driving westbound in a Toyota Camry and just east of the Alhambra Avenue exit when he crashed into trees and brush, CHP spokesman Officer Brandon Correia said.

Emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene. The CHP was investigating why the man suddenly lost control, but alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor, Correia said. An autopsy will determine whether the man had a medical issue while behind the wheel. Nobody else was in the car.
