Overland Park, KS : Part-time police officer died in a traffic crash in suburban Kansas City on Friday morning, Oct 16, 2015

A man killed in a Friday morning traffic crash in Overland Park was identified Sunday as 58-year-old David M. Stubbs.

Stubbs, of Overland Park, was a part-time police officer in Louisburg, Kan.

According to Overland Park police, Stubbs was killed when a man driving a stolen car ran a red light and collided with his vehicle at 123rd Street and Metcalf Avenue.

The driver of the stolen car fled from the scene on foot, but was arrested nearby a few minutes later.

He was taken to a hospital to be checked for possible injuries, and then taken to jail.

No charges have been filed in connection with Friday’s crash, but according to Johnson County Court records, the 24-year-old Olathe man arrested Friday had warrants for his arrest pending in two other auto theft cases.

He was out on bond in those two cases, but prosecutors had filed motions to revoke his bond on Sept. 28. After his arrest Friday, bond in each of those cases was raised to $500,000, according to jail records.
