A sport utility vehicle crashed into a restaurant this morning after the driver accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, according to Metro Police. Nobody was in the restaurant at the time, and the driver was not injured, police said. The accident happened about 9:35 a.m. at the Tasty Island Jamaican Restaurant in the 6800 block of West Flamingo Road. Kahiel Easy, the restaurant's owner, said there was extensive damage. The SUV crashed into the building near a side entrance, shattered a glass window and smashed into tables and a counter, he said. Easy said the restaurant would remain closed today.
