Council Bluffs, IA : Emerson man dies, others injured in wreck south of Council Bluffs on Wednesday, December 21st2016
An Emerson man died and three others were injured in a three-vehicle wreck on Highway 370 in Mills County south of Council Bluffs Wednesday evening.
John E. Miner, 73, died from injuries suffered in a crash on Bunge Avenue and 189th Street, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
Miner was driving a 2003 Chevy Cavalier westbound on Bunge Avenue when he pulled into oncoming traffic, “contrary to highway markings,” the state patrol said. Miner’s vehicle entered the path of a 2013 Dodge Dart driven by Dallas Jean Le Porte, 23, of Coin, who was eastbound on Bunge Avenue. The two vehicles collided head on.
During the crash the, rear end of the Cavalier hit a 2012 Peterbilt semi truck that was driving westbound on Bunge Avenue by Danny L. Wells, 56, of Oskaloosa.
The wreck occurred around 5:30 p.m.
Glenwood Rescue transported Miner to the CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center, where he died, according to the state patrol. Glenwood Rescue transported a passenger in Miner’s vehicle, 71-year-old Mary Ann Miner, to Creighton Medical for treatment.
The rescue squad also transported Le Porte to Creighton Medical. Cody R. Gaylan, 17, of Glenwood, was a passenger in Le Porte’s Dodge and suffered injuries that were treated on the scene of the wreck.
Wells was uninjured. An investigation into the crash continues.
