Brainerd,MN : ATV crash injures teen on May, Friday 11th 2018
A 16-year-old boy was injured Friday, May 11, in an all-terrain vehicle crash on the 38000 block of Highway 6 in Emily.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office was notified at 9:57 p.m. of an ATV crash with injuries. Deputies, Cuyuna Regional Medical Center ambulance, North Memorial Air Care and Emily First Responders were dispatched to the scene.
Responders learned the 16-year-old boy was riding a three-wheeler on family property when the crash occurred, the sheriff's office reported. A family member became concerned after not hearing the ATV for an hour. The family member and a neighbor checked the ATV trail on the property and discovered the teen and ATV in the woods.
Evidence at the scene indicate the ATV was traveling on the trail, went out of control and struck a tree, the sheriff's office reported. The driver of the ATV was located sitting on the ATV trail near the crashed ATV. The boy appeared to have suffered a head injury as a result of the crash and was transported to Children's Minnesota hospital by North Memorial Air Care.
The teen on the ATV was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the sheriff's office reported.
