San Diego, CA : Three hurt when driver crashes at San Ysidro border on Tuesday night, January 27, 2015
Police are trying to determine why a pickup truck driver entering the U.S. from Mexico refused to stop at a checkpoint, causing a crash late Tuesday night that injured three people, including himself.
The crash occurred at the San Ysidro Port of Entry at about 11:45 p.m. According to California Highway Patrol, the driver appeared to ignore commands from U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers to stop at the checkpoint coming into the U.S. and smashed into two cars in the process.
The driver of the suspect vehicle and two occupants of one of the hit cars all suffered minor injuries. The suspect was taken into custody.
There was no immediate word on whether the crash was an accident or intentional.
