Sarasota County, FL : Motorcyclist died in a T-bone collision on Clark Road on Tuesday August 6th 2014
A Venice motorcyclist killed in a T-bone collision on Clark Road was remembered for his skill and passion coaching young gymnasts. Richard Schoeneck, 27, who died Tuesday, coached at Lakewood Ranch Gymnastics. “His presence will be very greatly missed,” said Laura Parraga, owner of the training center. “He had a real desire to be a great gymnastics coach technically.” Parraga said Schoeneck took pride in coaching entry-level gymnastic competitors. He would spend his free time watching gymnastics videos online to learn new techniques to teach his students. “He was very thirsty to learn right off the bat,” she said. “And was wonderful with children.” Schoeneck was killed after his motorcycle hit the passenger side of a Lincoln Town Car. The car turned in front of him at Clark Road's intersection with Interstate 75. Schoeneck's passenger, Anniston Jasch, 11, was thrown from the blue 2007 Suzuki and seriously injured. She was transported by air ambulance to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg. Anniston is the daughter of Schoeneck's girlfriend. Anniston suffered multiple injuries, including broken bones. “She is in serious but stable condition with non-life threatening injuries,” Parraga said, relaying a message from Anniston's mother, Kimberly Jasch. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that Schoeneck and Anniston were wearing helmets. The Lincoln Town Car was driven by Kenneth Widmaier, 82, according to the FHP. He had been stopped at the intersection before he turned into the motorcycle's path at about 2:20 p.m. He was charged with failing to yield to the right of way.
