MONTGOMERY COUNTY, VA : 13-year-old one of four killed in big rig-vs.-SUV crash on I-81 on Tuesday, 30th May 2023

Four people were killed in a crash on I-81 in Montgomery County Tuesday morning, according to Virginia State Police.

The crash happened at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 30 on the northbound side of Interstate 81, at mile marker 120.3.

Police say the driver of a Chevrolet Equinox SUV was pulling a U-Haul trailer headed north on Interstate 81, when he lost control and spun around, coming to rest facing southbound in the northbound travel lanes. The Chevrolet was hit by a northbound Freightliner tractor trailer.

The Chevrolet was driven by Douangpee Amnatkeo, 54 of Pennsylvania. She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to police, and died at the scene.
