Rochester, NY : Wrong-way driver dies in Interstate 490 crash on Sunday October 2nd 2016
An early morning crash Sunday involving an alleged wrong-way driver on Interstate 490 left one man dead.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office:
Deputies responded shortly after 2 a.m. to Interstate 490 near Route 31 in Perinton for a crash in which one of the people involved was reportedly unresponsive and not breathing. Members of the Bushnell's Basin Fire Department and Perinton Volunteer Ambulance attempted CPR, but the man — who was not immediately identified died at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle, Gregory Waldron, 31, of Rochester, told deputies he was driving westbound approaching exit 26 when he saw a 2010 Ford Focus traveling in the wrong direction. Waldron was unable to avoid a head-one collision. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and still was being evaluated as of noon Sunday.
