London, KY : Man dies in four-wheeler accident in northern Laurel County on Tuesday, March 28, 2017

An East Bernstadt man died in a four-wheeling accident in northern Laurel County.

Floyd Pitman, 59, of Branch Road East, was discovered by emergency personnel after the London-Laurel County Rescue Squad were called to the scene on Wildcat Offroad Adventures property early Tuesday morning.

According to a family friend, Pitman had left his home Monday evening on a four-wheeler to ride on Wildcat Road, a few hundred yards from his home and a part of Wildcat Offroad Adventures property.

When he did not return home by Tuesday morning, family members contacted authorities.

Rescue squad and members of the East Bernstadt Volunteer Fire Department conducted a search of the three trails branching off from a landing at the end of Branch Road East. Pitman’s body was located a brief time later. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.

This is the second traffic-related fatality for the county this year, and the first four-wheeler accident thus far. The first fatality took place on Feb. 23.

The accident is being investigated by Det. Chris Edwards with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office. Assisting at the scene were Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London-Laurel County Rescue Squad, East Bernstadt Volunteer Fire Department and the Laurel County Coroner’s Office.
