Motorcyclist killed in crash near University Avenue

A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon in a collision with a tow truck on Interstate 805 in North Park.

The fatal crash occurred shortly before 4 p.m. on the southbound side of the freeway just north of state Route 15, according to the California Highway Patrol. The rider, whose name was not immediately available, died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The accident left four of six southbound lanes blocked in the area, causing heavier-than-usual rush-hour congestion.
All lanes were cleared just before 6 p.m.
