Los Angeles, CA : Motorcycle officer injured in collision with car on State Route 170 in the North Hollywood area on Monday, January 25, 2016

The California Highway Patrol says a motorcycle officer has been injured in a collision with a car on a Los Angeles freeway.

CHP Officer Tony Polizzi says the crash happened shortly after 8 a.m. Monday on northbound State Route 170 in the North Hollywood area.

Officials say the officer has been hospitalized with moderate injuries. Details of the crash were not immediately known.

Television news footage showed the CHP motorcycle overturned along the center divider.

Traffic was backed up for several miles as the crash was investigated.
