Ottertail,MN : Driver killed in Otter Tail County crash on April, wednesday 26th 2017
A late April return to winter weather made for slippery driving conditions here Wednesday morning, April 26, likely contributing to a fatal crash in Otter Tail County.
The crash occurred about 7:43 a.m. on U.S. Highway 10 when a pickup driving westbound lost control on a bridge deck and went off the road and rolled down onto the Highway 10 on-ramp from County Road 67 in New York Mills, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The driver of the pickup was a 50-year-old male from Deer Creek, Minn., the State Patrol said.
The wintry weather also caused many cars to end up in the ditch along Highway 10 in Clay County Wednesday morning, Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist said.
Moorhead police handled several calls, including a crash involving a school bus. No one was injured in the bus crash, which is under investigation, police said in a Facebook post.
“You just need to slow down,” Bergquist said.
Police in Fargo handled at least three crashes between about 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Snow was expected to fall in the region throughout the day Wednesday, with between 3 and 6 inches expected along with ice accumulation, according to the National Weather Service.
