MANATEE COUNTY, FL : Pedestrian, 15, killed in collision on U.S. 41 ID’d on Wednesday, March 15th 2017
The Florida Highway Patrol has identified a 15-year-old boy killed in a pedestrian vs. vehicle crash in Manatee County.
Myquarios Kelly, 15, of Palmetto died when he tried to cross the U.S. 41 at 23rd Street East at around 6:28 a.m. this morning. He was struck by a vehicle driven by John D'Auria, 64, of Tampa.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol:
Kelly was reportedly cross U.S. 41 from the east side of 23rd Street East to the west side of the road while the pedestrian control signal was red. D'Auria, the driver of a Lexus ES300H, did not see Kelly who was hit by the right side of the vehicle. Kelly was knocked into the left southbound lane of U.S. 41 and 23rd Street East.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the collision and the crash remains under investigation, FHP said.
