Officer shoots, kills man at accident scene in Warren Ohio
A Warren police officer shot and killed a man while responding to a report of a one-car accident.When the officer arrived to the scene early Saturday morning, a 911 recording of his call indicates that he found the car empty.But the Youngstown Vindicator reports that a few minutes later, he radioed for backup when another car showed up with two people inside, one of them with a gun.Warren police Chief Eric Merkel says he has no information about whether one of the men pointed a gun at the officer before shots were fired.The officer, who was not hurt and whose name has not been released, is on paid leave pending an investigation of the shooting.Merkel declined to identify the man killed.
