PHOENIX, AZ : 2 dead, 3 critically hurt in crash on I-8 near Gila Bend on Monday, 19th February 2024

Two people are dead and three others are in critical condition after a deadly crash on Interstate 8 between Yuma and Gila Bend Monday afternoon.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash near milepost 88 around 2:30 p.m. Milepost 88 is approximately 20 miles east of Dateland and 30 miles west of Gila Bend.

Authorities arrived and found two people dead at the scene and three others seriously injured. Those three were flown to a Phoenix-area hospital where, as of Tuesday morning, they remained in critical condition. A sixth victim was rushed to the hospital by ambulance and is currently hospitalized in unknown condition. No victims’ names were immediately released.

Detectives say the investigation remains ongoing but believe that the right-rear tire blew out and caused the collision. No other information has been released.
