LYNCHBURG, VA : Woman charged after crash in Lynchburg on Wednesday, 18th October 2023

The Lynchburg Police Department says a woman has been charged after a crash left two students injured on Oct. 18.

Police said the crash occurred on Route 501 South between the Fort Avenue exit and the Wards Road exit.

As the investigation continued, officers learned a Lynchburg City School van ran off the side of the road and into a tree in the median. When crews arrived at the scene, they began removing two students, who were 8 and 9 years old, from the van.

The driver was identified as 71-year-old Patricia Dudley.

Dudley and the two students were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
