Services are Friday for a Phillipsburg couple killed in a car crash Saturday night in Lower Mount Bethel Township.
A funeral Mass is scheduled 10 a.m. at St. Philip & St. James Church, 430 S. Main St. in Phillipsburg, for Carl G. Rodger and Ann T. Rodger, according to their obituaries.The couple celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary Friday.
Carl Rodger, 84, served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, earning the Purple Heart, and worked at Ingersoll-Rand for 50 years. Ann Rodger, 82, worked as a cafeteria aid for 30 years at Green Street School in Phillipsburg.
Carl Rodger was the driver of a 2012 Honda Fit that, about 10 p.m. Saturday, struck a large pile of rocks that had slid off an embankment in the area of the 7900 block of Main Street in Lower Mount Bethel Township, just north of Martins Creek, authorities said.The vehicle rolled over, according to the coroner's office, and was struck by another vehicle identified by Pennsylvania State Police as a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado headed in the opposite direction. The occupants of the Chevrolet pickup truck escaped injury, police said.
