Lewes, DE : 48-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash with a pickup truck on John J. Williams Highway (Route 24) at Mulberry Knoll Road on Monday, May 4, 2015

A motorcyclist from Pennsylvania is dead and charges are pending against the driver of a pick-up truck involved in a fatal crash Monday evening, Delaware State Police report.

The fatal collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of John Williams Highway (SR 24) and Mulberry Knoll Road involving a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck driven by 49-year-old Brian J. Donohue of Ocean View and a 1992 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by Bryan L. Angle, 48 of Pocopson, PA.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has assumed the investigation and alcohol is believed to be a factor on behalf of Brian Donohue, state police spokesman Cpl. Gary Fournier said.

Charges are pending upon on the conclusion of the investigation, according to Cpl. Fournier.

State police investigation revealed Mr. Donohue was southbound on Mulberry Knoll Road approaching the intersection with John J. Williams Highway. Mr. Donohue failed to remain stopped at the stop sign and entered into the intersection into the path of the motorcycle, Cpl. Fournier said.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, applied his brakes to avoid the collision but the motorcycle struck the left side of the pick-up truck. Mr. Angle was ejected into the roadway where he was pronounced dead due to multiple traumatic injuries, Cpl. Fournier said.

Mr. Donohue was properly restrained and uninjured in the crash, state police report.
