Denver, CO : Pedestrian struck and killed in crash on C-470 near Alameda Parkway on Sunday night, January 3, 2016

A man walking on C-470 near Alameda Parkway was struck and killed Sunday night, authorities say.

The collision happened at 7:50 p.m., said Tim Sutherland, spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.

The driver of the car that struck the man stayed at the scene, Sutherland said.

Troopers are investigating why the man was on the highway, he said.
