Atlantic County, NJ : Two killed, two injured in Garden State Parkway crash in South Jersey early Saturday, June 25, 2016

Two New York City men were killed and two others were injured in a one-vehicle crash off the Garden State Parkway in Atlantic County early Saturday.

About 12:50 a.m., New Jersey State Police troopers responded to a report of a car that had veered into the woods near milepost 48.6, in Port Republic.

Darryl Thomas, 27, of Brooklyn, was driving a 2016 Nissan Maxima southbound in the left lane of the parkway when he lost control of the car, which then traveled across the road to the right, crashed through the guardrail, and overturned several times down an embankment and into a marsh, state police said.

Thomas and a passenger, Zachary Pearce, 22, of Queens, were ejected. Both were pronounced dead at the scene about 4:40 a.m.

Two other passengers in the car, Lamarr Edwards, 22, and Derrell Shaw, 31, also of Queens, were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The Coast Guard and the West Tuckerton Dive Team assisted with locating the victims in the marshy waters. The crash is under investigation.
