Augusta, ME : Four injured in nine-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Pittsfield on Thursday morning, August 4, 2016
Four people were taken to the hospital Thursday morning after a crash involving nine vehicles, including three tractor-trailers, on Interstate 95 in Pittsfield.
The crash was reported around 8:30 a.m. near mile marker 146 in the southbound lanes in an area that had been reduced to one lane for paving, according to Maine State Police Trooper Scott Duff, who said the crash was “basically a chain reaction of rear-ending each other.”
All of the injuries were not life-threatening, and the people taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital were treated and released, Duff said.
The other six vehicles in the accident were cars.
The highway was closed for about two hours and traffic was rerouted through Pittsfield.
Police are still looking for one vehicle that left the scene of the accident, Duff said. No information was available about that vehicle.
