Three people, including a baby, were taken to the hospital following a crash in Southern Hinds County Friday afternoon.
The head-on collision happened around 1:30 on Springridge Road.
Emergency personnel from the Clinton Fire Department, Clinton Police Department and AMR responded to the scene of the crash.
Carl Fleming tells our News Channel 12 crew he witnessed the accident as he headed north on the roadway.
"I was traveling north behind the truck that got the bread on it, and the other lady that was coming south veered over into the left lane," Fleming said.
For a short while after the crash, we're told both the woman and child were trapped inside the car.
"I heard the baby crying in the backseat and I knew I had to get that baby out, the baby was strapped down,” Fleming said.
The woman was airlifted from the scene, and we're told the baby was taken away in an ambulance.
Following the crash, the passenger in the truck told our crews he was okay but in shock. The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital by AMR.
At this time, there's no word from officials on how the three are doing. We'll continue to keep you posted on their conditions.
For now, Fleming says he just thankful. “I thank God that nobody's dead, Fleming said.
