Venango County, PA : Oil City teenage driver killed in crash on Tuesday August 30, 2016
An Oil City teenage driver was killed in a crash while attempting to pass a vehicle operated by a Pleasantville woman to the right of the right-hand lane, Tuesday afternoon, in Cranberry Township.
According to Franklin-based state police, 19-year-old Nickolas William Pardee, of Oil City, was pronounced dead at the scene by Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh.
Police said the crash happened around 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, as Pardee was southbound on Cranberry Rockland Road, heading toward Rockland.
Police said Pardee encountered another southbound vehicle, driven by 58-year-old Gail A. Coulter, of Pleasantville, and attempted to pass her between the guide rail and the right-hand lane Coulter’s vehicle was occupying.
Police said Pardee’s vehicle sideswiped Coulter’s, causing his vehicle to strike the guide rail. Pardee’s vehicle then became airborne, sliding across the top of a concrete bridge barrier. The vehicle continued a short distance before it rolled nose-down, striking the pavement, rolling the vehicle sideways.
Police said Pardee’s vehicle rolled over three times, prior to coming to rest in the southbound lane.
It was not stated in the police report whether Coulter sustained any injuries from the crash.
