Orangeburg, SC : Marching 101 performer Eddie Moe, killed after being struck by car on Magnolia Street in Orangeburg on Thursday, December 18, 2014

A member of the SC State community was killed in an accident Thursday in Orangeburg. Lance Cpl. Judd Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said a pedestrian was struck and killed in the parking lot of the Select Tire in 2000 block Magnolia Street around 4:30 p.m. Jones said the driver of the vehicle was traveling south on US 601 when he crossed over into the northbound lanes, went into the parking lot and struck a pedestrian, a sign and three parked cars. The pedestrian, who SC State Band Director Eddie Ellis identified as "Eddie Moe", died at the scene. Moe's legal name is Eddie Moore, Jr. Moe was an avid fan of South Carolina State University and frequent performer of Marching 101 and loved by everyone in the community. The driver of the vehicle and a passenger were transported to the hospital. Their condition was not immediately known. Jones said the collision is still under investigation.
