Fort Wayne, IN : A crash on West Jefferson Boulevard on Thursday, December, 28th 2017
A woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a crash on West Jefferson Boulevard today.
Police were called to the scene about 7:30 p.m. for a crash with injuries. Initial reports indicated two vehicles were involved and one driver was pinned inside, according to a press release.
A female driver was found unconscious and unresponsive and had to be extricated from the car. A male driver in the other vehicle was taken to a local hospital in good condition.
Initial reports in the press release indicate one of the cars traveling westbound on Jefferson crossed the center line, and an eastbound car was unable to avoid the crash.
Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs caused the crash. Weather-related road conditions were also not considered a factor despite snow in the area, according to the press release.
Eastbound lanes of Jefferson were closed between Main Street and Swinney Park, and westbound lanes were restricted while investigators processed the scene, according to the press release. The accident remains under investigation.
