Genoa, OH : Pedestrian killed when hit by truck on State Route 51 near the Wood-Ottawa county line north of Genoa on Sunday, September 28, 2014

The State Highway Patrol says a pedestrian was killed when he was hit by a truck in northwestern Ohio. The patrol's Sandusky post says 38-year-old Quincy Latrell Thomas of Toledo was dead at the scene of the accident that occurred around 3:30 a. m. Sunday on State Route 51 near the Wood-Ottawa county line north of Genoa. A statement from the patrol says Thomas was walking along the highway wearing dark clothing when he was struck. Authorities said visibility was poor due to heavy fog in the area. The patrol says 60-year-old Floyd Cockefair, of Whitehouse, was driving the truck tractor,which was not towing a trailer. Cockefair was not injured. He told authorities that Thomas stepped onto the road into the path of his truck. The crash remains under investigation.
