One dead in Randolph County crash near Illinois

One person was killed in a two-vehicle accident about 3:30 p.m. Friday at Woodcox Road and Illinois 154 in Randolph County, according to Illinois State Police.Myron M. Hughes, 21, of Belleville was westbound on Illinois 154 when he lost control of his car, entered the eastbound lane and collided with a semitrailer driven by Shawn D. Lever, 41, of St. Louis. Hughes, ejected from his vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by Randolph County Coroner Randy Dudenbostel.Lever was transported to the Sparta Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.Assisting were Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, Sparta Police Department, Sparta Fire Department and MedStar Ambulance.
