Cordelia, CA : One person died, Drunken driver rams into disabled car on Interstate 80 in Cordelia on Saturday night, March 26, 2016

A suspected drunken driver lost control of his car Saturday night and rammed into a disabled vehicle, which in turn fatally struck one of two women who were standing nearby along Interstate 80 in Cordelia, the California Highway Patrol said.

As units responded to the scene of the crash, the highway was shut down and the victims were down on the roadway. Traffic was diverted off the freeway at the Cordelia Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility.

The suspect, 46-year-old Marc Crawley, of Suisun City, was driving a 1968 Ford Mustang as he approached the facility. On the right shoulder, another Mustang was disabled, leaving two women stranded and standing outside.

When the driver crashed into the Mustang, the vehicle was pushed into an 18-year-old woman and 34-year-old Dujuan Pines.

Crawley's car continued to careen out of control after striking the women and crossed all lanes of traffic before coming to a rest at the median, the CHP said.

All three were taken to the North Bay Medical Center in Fairfield with severe injuries. The 18-year-old was airlifted from North Bay to Sacramento's UC Davis Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.

Crawly was placed under arrest on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence, the CHP said.

The entire freeway was reopened at 10 p.m.
