Chelsea, MA : Girl, 12, seriously hurt in dealership crash on Thursday, 2nd August 2018

A 12-year-old girl is in serious condition after she and her family were rescued with the jaws of life after crashing their vehicle into a car dealership in Chelsea.

Firefighter Deputy Chief Wayne Ulwick described the crash as “probably one of the most serious car crashes” he had seen in 10 years.

“She was in tough shape,” Ulwick said of the 12-year-old girl, whose leg was pinned down by the dashboard on the right hand side of the car. “The driver couldn’t get out of the car so we had to cut the door off.”

Police Chief Brian Kyes said the driver lost control of her vehicle around 12:55 p.m. when she struck the F1 Motors building on Everett Avenue and a parked, unoccupied car.

The driver, a 44-year-old woman, and an 8-year-old boy sustained minor injuries, according to Kyes, while the 12-year-old girl suffered an injury to the leg and potential internal injuries.

All three were transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Kyes said.
