Eloy, AZ : Trucker killed in fatal accident on Interstate 10 near Eloy early Thursday morning, July 7, 2016

An early morning fatal accident involving a tractor-trailer rig killed the driver and closed a short section of Interstate 10 between Tucson and Phoenix, forcing a detour of traffic around the wreck for hours.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety said a westbound big rig loaded with boxes of dairy goods veered into the median near Eloy early Thursday. The DPS said the truck then rolled, ejecting the driver, who was not wearing his seatbelt.

Eastbound traffic was diverted around the scene via the frontage road for about six hours.
