BELTON, TX : Two-vehicle accident near Belton on Wednesday, November, 15th 2017
A 60-year-old man was killed Wednesday afternoon after a two-vehicle accident near Belton, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.
The accident occurred at just before 3 p.m. in the 9300 block of FM 439 at its intersection with Courtney Lane, DPS Sgt. Dave Roberts said.
The man — whose identity was not immediately released — was pronounced dead at 2:54 p.m. at the scene by Bell County Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield, who ordered an autopsy to be conducted in Dallas.
A passenger van and a large, heavy-duty truck filled with a cement-type product used to make swimming pools were both eastbound on FM 439, Roberts said. The driver of the passenger van was trying to turn onto Courtney Lane when the truck hit it and killed the van’s driver.
The van’s passenger was taken to Seton Medical Center Harker Heights, but didn’t have incapacitating injuries.
The driver of the commercial truck wasn’t injured.
The two vehicles ended up in a roadside ditch, Roberts confirmed.
