MARION, OH : Upper Sandusky woman involved in fatal crash on Sunday, 4th March 2018
A two-vehicle crash Sunday near Marion killed a Marion man and seriously injured Upper Sandusky and Marion women, the State Highway Patrol reports.
Edwin A. Keirns, 73, one of the drivers, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Marion post of the state patrol said.
Seriously injured in the crash were his passenger, Susan Keirns of Marion, and the driver of the second vehicle, Tara M. Baker, 45, of Upper Sandusky, the patrol said. Both women were taken to Marion General Hospital.
The crash was reported about 9:38 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Ohio 309 and Marion Williamsport Road, the patrol reported.
Baker was driving south on Marion Williamsport Road, approaching Ohio 309, in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the patrol said. Edwin Keirns was driving east on Ohio 309 in a 2013 Toyota Venza.
The patrol said its preliminary investigation indicates that Baker failed to yield at the stop sign for Ohio 309 and entered the intersection, hitting the Keirns vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation.
