St. Croix Falls, WI : 1 dead, 1 seriously injured after single-vehicle crash in Polk County on Wednesday, 21st October, 2020

The driver is dead and a passenger is seriously injured following a crash in St. Croix Falls Wednesday night.

According to a release from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, the Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center began receiving calls at 6:03 p.m. Wednesday regarding a single-vehicle crash.

The crash was reported to have occurred on Highway 87 just south of County Road I.

Upon arrival of first responders, it was found that a 2007 Chevrolet HHR was traveling south on Highway 87 and had just passed County Road I when the vehicle seemed to have steered hard to the left, crossed the northbound lane and entered the east ditch.

Upon entering the ditch the car rolled and then struck a tree with its roof.

The driver sustained severe injuries and died at the scene. The passenger also sustained severe injuries and was transported by air ambulance to a hospital in St. Paul.
