Rainier, OR : Rollover crash on Highway 30 kills 16-year-old girl, injures 16-year-old boy on early Sunday morning July 6th 2014
A 16-year-old driver was killed in a rollover crash on Highway 30 early Sunday morning.
Emergency crews were called to the scene near Milepost 53 west of Rainier at 12:55 a.m.
Investigators said a 1993 Subaru driven by a 16-year-old girl was heading eastbound when the car traveled off the shoulder and rolled several times. The car eventually came to a rest on its top.
The driver, identified as Seeaira Hicks, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 16-year-old boy in the car received minor injuries and was taken to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview. He was identified by police as Scott Hamlin.
Police said both the driver and passenger are from St. Helens. They were wearing seat belts and the car's airbags deployed.
There is no evidence that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors, according to Oregon State Police. Investigators are looking at driver fatigue as a possible cause of the crash.
