SULLIVAN, NY : A two-vehicle collision on a central New York road on Friday, June 23, 2017

Police say seven people have been taken to hospitals after a two-vehicle collision on a central New York road.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says the crash occurred Friday morning on Lakeport Road in the town of Sullivan, just east of Syracuse. Deputies say a van carrying five people and a Jeep with two people riding in it collided.

Police say one person suffered serious injuries. Information on the injuries suffered by the other six hasn’t been released. Officials say the injured included three children riding in the van.

Police say the accident occurred near where local fire departments and an ambulance service are located, which allowed crews to reach the crash scene quickly.
