FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, MI : Monroe man killed in Sunday night crash on Hurd Road on Sunday, September 24th 2017

A Monroe man was killed after he was thrown from a motorcycle about 10 p.m. Sunday on Hurd Road, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office reported.

The victim was Ethan J. Hawkins, 23.

Deputies he was operating a black 1973 custom-built motorcycle westbound on Hurd Road near Comboni Way when he lost control of the motorcycle in a curved section of the roadway. As a result, he ran off the roadway to the right, struck a utility pole and was ejected.

He was pronouced dead at the scene.

Hawkins was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The Frenchtown Township Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance assisted on scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the MCSO Traffic Services Division, along with Deputies Deonta Canales and Seth Evans of the Uniformed Services Division. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 734-240-7711.
