San Diego, CA : Four injured in head-on crash in Scripps Ranch on Saturday, November 15, 2014
A speeding 16-year-old driver apparently lost control on a roadway in Scripps Ranch and collided head-on with another vehicle, injuring himself, his two passengers and the other driver, police said Sunday.
The 16-year-old driver was headed west on Pomerado Road approaching Scripps Ranch Boulevard around 7:45 p.m. Saturday. He took a curve too fast and swerved into oncoming traffic, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.
His vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by a 58-year-old woman, Heims said.
The woman sustained a hip fracture and other serious, but non-life- threatening leg injuries, Heims said.
One of the 15-year-old girls riding with the younger driver had teeth knocked out in the crash, Heims said. The driver and the other girl in the car sustained only minor injuries.
California law prohibits 16-year-old drivers from carrying passengers, but no citations were mentioned in a police report.
