Colorado Springs, CO : Woman killed after vehicle runs stop sign in north Colorado Springs on Friday, February 10, 2017

A 67-year-old woman was killed Friday when she ran a stop sign in north Colorado Springs and her vehicle was T-boned by another car, police say.

The crash investigation closed Union Boulevard for four hours.
Colorado Springs police say the crash happened about 8 a.m. at Union Boulevard and El Capitan Drive when the woman, headed west on El Capitan, drove her Saturn station wagon through the stop sign into the intersection. Her vehicle was hit on the driver’s side by a Mazda, driven by a 69-year-old woman.

The 67-year-old woman, who has not been named, died after being taken to a local hospital with serious injuries following the crash, according to Colorado Springs police. She had to be cut from her Saturn station wagon, the city fire department said. The Mazda driver was treated for not life-threatening injuries, police said.

The woman is expected to be the third traffic fatality in the city this year.
