Buckeystown, MD : Fatal crash on U.S. 15 at Mountville Road on Monday, 3rd February, 2020

Maryland State Police have identified a Middletown resident as the victim of a fatal crash Monday evening on U.S. 15 at Mountville Road.

The crash that killed Arik Knapp, 31, occurred around 6 p.m. Monday when Knapp’s 2012 Mazda was traveling north on U.S. 15 and turned left on Mountville Road and was struck by a Dodge Ram 3500 truck with a trailer loaded with vehicles traveling south, according to a state police news release.

Knapp was taken to Washington Medstar Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, the press release said. The passenger in Knapp’s car was taken to Children’s National Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Dodge 3500 was taken to Frederick Health Hospital.

A GoFundMe page was started for Knapp’s family and had raised more than $22,000 as of Wednesday night.
