Norfolk, VA : Norfolk police car involved in fatal crash on Saturday night, May 7, 2016

Norfolk police have identified Robert E. Crittsinger Jr., 79, as the man who died Saturday night in a crash with a Norfolk police squad car.

Crittsinger, of the 7400 block of Tapley Avenue in Norfolk, was driving a Toyota Prius and was pulling out of Surrey Crescent when the Prius collided with a police cruiser heading south on Hampton Boulevard, police said.

The officer driving the cruiser was responding to a report of a shooting near Graydon and Colley avenues, police said. Its emergency equipment was on.
