Mancos, CO : Head-on crash kills one on U.S. 160 between Mancos and Cortez on Wednesday, 20th January 2021

One person has died and others were taken to a hospital after a fiery head-on collision Wednesday morning on U.S. Highway 160 between Cortez and Mancos.

A white SUV and a van hit head-on near County Road 39, according to Colorado State Patrol Trooper James Proctor, who was at the scene.

The van, which was towing a trailer, erupted into flames, Proctor said. Debris was spread across the road.

The Colorado Department of Transportation reported on Twitter about 11:08 a.m. that the highway was closed to eastbound and westbound traffic.

Identities of the people involved in the crash were not released.
