Dixon, CA : 2 dead after head-on crash near Highway 113 just south of Dixon on Sunday, 22nd July 2018

A head-on collision involving two vehicles resulted in the death of both drivers Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened during the afternoon commute along Hay Road near Highway 113 just south of Dixon between a Mini Cooper and a Kia Sorrento, the CHP reports. The CHP reports motorists being transported to an area hospital but it was not clear if the vehicles were carrying additional passengers.Caltrans closed the road for nearly three hours while the crash was investigated. Hay Road opened once again at 8:01 p.m., the CHP reports.

The names and cities of residence of the victims were not released at press time.

Friday’s crash was the third fatal crash in the Dixon area in a week. Those crashes have left four people dead.Tanya Long, 64, of Dixon, died Tuesday in a crash that happened at approximately 10 a.m. as she turned left in her Honda CR-V from northbound Highway 113 onto an off-ramp from Interstate 80, headed the wrong way, continued across a raised dirt shoulder, became airborne over eastbound I-80 and went over the raised center divide to hit a Dodge Dart traveling westbound on I-80.

The Honda then flipped several times before coming to a rest on the north shoulder.

Three people in the Dart were injured.
