Branford, CT : Several people injured in 7-car crash in Connecticut on Monday, July 11, 2016

Authorities say a seven-car crash involving a box truck on Interstate 95 has left several people injured, some critically, in Connecticut.

Branford Deputy Fire Chief Michael Stackpole says the crash was reported on the southbound side of the highway near Exit 54 around 1:30 p.m. Monday.

Stackpole says firefighters worked to extricate people who were trapped in their vehicles.

Seven people including at least one child were rushed to the hospital. Four refused medical treatment at the scene. No one was immediately identified.

The incident is under investigation.
