Salem,OR : Central Point man dies in head-on collision on July, Sunday 23th 2017

Police have identified the man killed in a Sunday night Highway 140 head-on crash as 79-year-old Wally M. Larson of Central Point.

Oregon State Police said that at about 10 p.m. Sunday, Larson attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing area while headed east in his 1996 Chevrolet Suburban when he collided with a 1994 Ford motor home. Police believe reckless driving may have been a factor based on a witness report, but the crash is still under investigation.

Larson was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash west of the Running Y Ranch near Milepost 58. The motor home driver, identified as Kimball L. Roundy, 38, of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and three passengers sustained minor injuries in the crash, and were treated at Sky Lakes Medical Center.

The crash closed Highway 140 for about four hours Sunday night. Agencies that assisted OSP included the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, the Oregon Department of Transportation and Klamath County Fire.
