HAMPSHIRE, TN : One person was killed in a head-on collision on May, Tuesday, 16th 2017

One person was killed in a head-on collision involving a tanker truck in Maury County on Tuesday morning.

The crash happened on Hampshire Pike near Overhead Bridge Road at the Lewis County line.

Officials said a pickup truck crossed the center line and struck the tanker truck head-on. The tanker truck then overturned several times as the driver tried to avoid the crash. Both vehicles caught fire after the crash.

The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators have not yet identified the victim.

The driver of the tanker truck was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Investigators said the driver of the tanker truck was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
