Rankin County, MS : Man killed in two car crash on Spillway Rd on Wednesday morning, February 15, 2017

The victim killed in a two-car wreck on Spillway Road has been identified.

61-year-old Howard Carlton Lowther, of the Brandon reservoir area, died in the crash that happened at the intersection of Spillway Road and Spann Drive in Rankin County, according to Reservoir police. The crash happened at 6:50 am Wednesday morning in front of the Kroger.

He was taken to Merit Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the other vehicle had some pain and lacerations and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Chief Perry Waggener says the preliminary investigation reveals that one of the vehicles turned across Spillway Road from Spann Drive in the path of the other vehicle.

The crash is still under investigation.
