Bolton,VT : 1 man dead after officer-involved shooting on I-89 in Vermont on February, Sunday 11th 2018
One man is dead in an officer-involved shooting during a traffic stop on I-89 Sunday afternoon, according to Vermont State Police.
Police said a Vermont State Police trooper and an officer with the Richmond Police Department shot the man during the traffic stop just before 4 p.m.
The man was taken to UVM Medical Center in Burlington where he later died. Neither the trooper nor the officer were injured.
The shooting happened in Bolton between exit 11 in Richmond and exit 10 in Waterbury.
The right lane of southbound I-89 in the area was closed, and police expected the closure to last well into Sunday night.
The Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit and Crime Scene Search Teams were responding to the scene Sunday evening.
Police said the investigation was in the early stages and no other details were immediately available.
Officials have not released the victim's name.
They have not yet said what led to the shooting.
