Three teenagers were injured when a car crashed into a house near Orange Road in St. Joseph County Sunday.

Officers were dispatched shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Sunday for reports of a crash. When they arrived to the scene in the 51000 block of Orange Road, they found that a 2006 Ford Ranger had gone off the roadway, went through a wooden fence and struck a house. The car hit the house's gas line, causing a significant gas leak, according to a release from the St. Joseph County's Fatal Crash Team.

The car's three occupants were injured in the crash. The driver — 16-year-old Riley Elm — had to be extricated from the car and was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Bradley Berk, 18, suffered minor injuries, but another passenger — 19-year-old Emily Elm — sustained a neck fracture and back injury from the crash, according to FACT.

Emily Elm is the sister of Riley Elm and FACT investigators believe she was sitting on Berk's lap at the time of the crash. As of Monday afternoon, both Elms are in the hospital. Emily Elm is in critical condition and Riley Elm is in stable condition. Berk has been released from the hospital.

FACT is still investigating the cause of the crash.
