Houma,LA : Houma driver killed in Schriever crash on December, Monday 18th 2017
A Houma driver was killed after she pulled out in front of a pickup truck this morning in Schriever, State Police said.
Charleta Baker, 33, died on the scene, Trooper First Class Jesse LaGrange said in a news release. Troop C in Gray was notified of the crash shortly after 9 a.m.
LaGrange said Baker was driving a 2012 Mazda 3 east on La. 311. She stopped at the intersection with La. 24 South but then pulled out in front of a 2016 GMC Sierra, which hit her driver’s side.
The truck’s driver, 24-year-old Ronald Franklin, of Belle Chase, was taken to Terrebonne General Medical Center with “minor to moderate injuries,” LaGrange said. He and Franklin were both wearing seat belts.
LaGrange said impairment is not suspected, but routine toxicology tests are pending for both drivers.
